Celebrities will tell you, to just be yourself
and then you see pictures, photoshopped as hell
the media is fake, and the beauty industry
is literally feeding off young teens insecurities
They could tell you you’re enough, just be wild and free
but then they’d crash and burn, how would they make their money?
They tell you how to think, so your insecure,
then sell you all the products, to fix all your flaws, (BUY IT)
You have to buy this and look like that.
No you’re too skinny, but you’re too fat.
It’s all a big part of a business plan,
they set these crazy standards, cos they know that they can.
They teach young girls, their main goals in life.
Is how to be pretty and hot to get a guy.
We pit girls together, so we can compare,
Who’s the ugliest and who’s the most fair?
We consume all this stuff, cos we don’t realise,
How from day one, we’re taught to criticise.
Just be yourself, but no not like that,
Cos you’re too ugly, bold, thick and fat.
One minute you’re too ugly, and not enough.
The next it’s all happiness and preaching self love.
Or how you’d look great, if you just fixed your face,
and we wonder why teens, obsess bout their weight.
Everything’s photoshopped, it’s all so fake,
These crazy beauty standards, just give us a break.
you take perfect bodies, and slim down their waste,
Take away all their flaws, manipulate their face.
Is this really what we want young girls to see?
That they only look good in size 0 jeans?
Why not encourage them, to read more books,
Instead of basing their self worth, all on looks,
I don’t care if a guy doesn’t like the way I dress,
I do it for myself, I’m not here to impress.
So all the people out there who are done with being judged,
Be a little rebel and give yourself some love.
I just love myself
No I don’t want no help
I’m just doing me,
and I feel wild and free.
Standards of beauty, starts from a young age,
look at Disney princesses and their tiny waist.
True rebels are the one’s, who look past all this stuff,
Understand their own beauty and that their enough,
I’mma be myself, and Imma feel good,
Imma love who I am and dance like I should.
I’m not here to exist and please other people,
If I can’t love myself, I’m digging a deep hole.
I don’t care what you think or what you have to say,
I want to feel good, Imma do it my way.
So all of you guys come cheer with me,
Let’s scream it out loud in 1, 2, 3
I just love myself
No I don’t want no help
I’m just doing me,
and I feel wild and free.
